Off Season

In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “Off-Season.”

So hard to believe that these were lilacs just a few weeks ago.   Many people would find out-of-season lilacs to be a little unattractive and spindly….but up really, really close they are still beautiful.  Even off-season.

I used my 90mm macro lens to get super-close to the dried buds, with only a small portion of the image actually in focus; allowing the majority of the frame to fade into blur.

  1. Thank you, Heavenhappens! (by the way, a very cool name, love it) I have seen artists depict dying flowers and always thought I wanted to try photographing them myself. Needed a bit of post processing to “make” them beautiful but I like that part. Thanks for your comment.
